Magnus Aurelius Cassiodorus Senator (Roman statesman and writer; c.487–c.580)
Magnus Aurelius Cassiodorus Senator (c.487–c.580) was a Roman statesman, scholar and writer, who for a period served the Theodoric, King of the Ostrogoths.
The lagoon was settled in Antiquity, and in the 600s, there were numerous known towns, and several important cities. Venice, however, was not one of them.
