The Arti che vanno per via nella città di Venezia (1753, 1770, 1785, etc.), by Gaetano Zompini (1700–1778), contains sixty engravings of common, mostly poor people, peddling their trades on the streets of Venice in the mid-1700s.

Mi la stico col far balar sti cani,
E farghe far dei zioghi a che li ho usai
Che in ste cosse è curiosi i Veneziani.

Translation

I enjoy making these dogs dance,
And make them do tricks that I have taught them
Because the Venetians are curious about such things.
