The Arti che vanno per via nella città di Venezia (1753, 1770, 1785, etc.), by Gaetano Zompini (1700–1778), contains sixty engravings of common, mostly poor people, peddling their trades on the streets of Venice in the mid-1700s.

L’inverno co se mazza osei de vale Anere, e mazorini dei più magri Vendo per pochi bezzi per le cale.
Translation
In the winter when they kill birds in the lagoon
Hens and drakes of the most lean
I sell for a few bezzi in the alleyways.
Notes
Street vendors of water fowl game, like coot (folega), and common duck (anara and mazorin).
The word valle (also vale due to the Venetian dislike of double consonants) — meaning ‘valley’ — is used in the Venetian lagoon for the shallow areas exploited for fish farming, and also for hunting birds in the winter.
A bezzo is a copper coin worth half a soldo, or six denari, or one fortieth of a lira di piccolo.
