- Jacopo Tiepolo (c.1170–1249) was the 43rd doge of the Republic of Venice, 1229–1249.
1300s
- Marin Falier (1274–1355) was the 55th doge of Venice, who was executed for high treason. .
1400s
- Bartolomeo Colleoni (c.1400–1475) was a nobleman and condottiero from Bergamo.
1500s
- Angela dal Moro (1500s, also known as Zaffetta) was a well-known Venetian courtesan, who also modelled for Titian.
- Tommaso Rangoni da Ravenna, (1493–1577) was an astrologer and physician, who got rich and famous selling remedies for syphilis.
- Bianca Cappello (1648–1687) was a Venetian noblewoman, who eloped with her lover as a teenager, and became Grand Duchess of Tuscany and a Daughter of the Republic.
- Giacomo Franco (1550–1620) was a Venetian engraver and publisher, best known for collections of prints of Venetian dress and customs.
- Veronica Franco (1553–1591) was a Venetian poet and courtesan.
1600s
- Paolo Sarpi (1552–1623) was a Venetian monk and scholar, which the Catholic Church tried to assassinate in 1607.
1700s
- Rosalba Carriera (1673-1757) was a Venetian painter and miniaturist from the Rococo period.
- Gaetano Zompini was a Venetian painter and engraver, famous for his prints of common people on the streets of Venice.
- Giovanni Grevembroch (1731-1807) was a Venetian artist, probably of Dutch descent, who worked for many years for the Venetian nobleman Pietro Gradenigo. His best known work is the Gli Abiti de Veneziani.
- Domenico Pizzamano (1748–1817) was a nobleman, who crossed Napoleon in 1797 as commander of the Forte di Sant'Andrea.
1800s
- Luigi Scolari (c.1843–1859) was Venetian a high-school student, who was killed by Austrian soldiers in 1859.
- Giuseppe Tassini (1827–1899) was a Venetian scholar and prolific writer on Venetian history, in particular the Curiosità Veneziane.
